Templates

Introduction

If you frequently create webpages using a similar style, then it is useful to be able to create a template style that you can use whenever you wish to create a new page. This feature has been made available in HotDog so that you can remove the time that you would waste on repetitive coding.

Another useful feature in HotDog is the ability to insert Publish Fields within your template documents. If you would like instructions on how to do this, read the tutorial about using Publish Fields in Templates.

Saving Your Document as a Template

  1. On the File menu, select Save As.

  2. Using the Save as type drop-down list, select HotDog Template (*.tpl).

  3. Using the Save in drop-down list, select the Template directory, under your HotDog directory.

  4. In the File name field, enter a name for your new template.

Using Your New Template

  1. On the File menu, select New. This brings up the Open a New Document dialog.

  2. In the Available Templates panel, select the template you have created.

  3. Click OK.
